Vilnius university Šiauliai academy welcomed Prof. Dr. Andrea Eickhoff Óhidy from Freiburg University of Education.
Prof. Dr. Andrea Eickhoff Óhidy visited Šiauliai for four days. During this time, she visited Vilnius University Šiauliai Academy, had lectures, visited Didžvaris gymnasium in Šiauliai city and came to Vilnius.
Prof. Dr. Andrea Eickhoff Óhidy agreed to answer some questions about her visit to Šiauliai city.
– Introduce yourself briefly, please.
– I am a professor of educational sciences in Germany. I began my university career in 2004. So, science is a big part of my life. Outside work, I do have some other hobbies. I like cycling, reading books, meeting friends, and cooking a lot. It’s simple things in life that make you happy and let you enjoy everyday life.
– Why do you choose to visit Šiauliai city?
– The reason I came to Šiauliai is Doc. Dr. Jurgita Lenkauskaite. She was visiting our university in Freiburg. We met in a seminar and talked. She invited me to visit Vilnius University Šiauliai Academy. I decided to accept the invitation, but the pandemic came. I am glad that now, after a few years, we are able to travel again. I came here because I am participating in Erasmus+ Staff Mobility For Teaching program.
– What is your first impression about Šiauliai?
– I like Lithuania a lot. People here are very friendly and warm. Your language is very melodic and beautiful. Šiauliai is a very nice city. I visited chocolate fabric and was impressed that everything there was so delicious.
– Why is a partnership between Vilnius University Šiauliai Academy and Freiburg University of Education so important?
– It is essential because we have projects together. Guest lecturers can share experiences and do seminars. I am glad we can finally meet face-to-face and organize a discussion. Our students are happy to meet Lithuanian students.
