Prof. Ingrida Šaulienė and Assoc. Professor Laura Šukienė, a researchers of the VU Šiauliai Academy, participated in one of the largest geoscience events in Europe, EGU-2025, which took place in Vienna (Austria) from 27 April to 2 May.

The European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly is held annually and brings together scientists from all over the world to share scientific results from both Earth and space research. This year’s Assembly was attended by more than 18,000 participants and organized more than 1,000 sessions covering topics such as atmospheric sciences, geosciences, hydrology, climatology, geodesy, soil and ocean sciences.

Interdisciplinarity in the geosciences and nature-based solutions were also a major focus. Professor. Ingrida Šaulienė, together with colleagues from the Belgian, Finnish, and Swiss Meteorological Services, chaired the section “Detection, analysis and forecasting of aeroallergens”. Both oral and poster presentations in this session focused on the detection, analysis and forecasting of airborne allergens, as well as their impact on climate, nature, and human health.

Professor Ingrida Šaulienė and Assoc. (i) “Assessing associations between Pollen Resilience Index forecast values and allergic health symptoms induced by aeroallergens (Ingrida Šaulienė, Laura Šukienė, Gintautas Daunys, Rūta Dubakienė, Odilija Rudzevičienė, and Edvinas Stonevičius)”; (ii) “Betula pollen observation: integration of automated device records into long-term datasets” (Laura Šukienė, Ingrida Šaulienė, Edvinas Stonevičius, Lukas Vaitkevičius, Gintautas Daunys). The PASYFO tool was demonstrated, and the EO4EU platform was discussed, and the results of the SYLVA project were made public.
