On September 1, Vilnius University Šiauliai Academy officially kicked off the new academic year.
In the morning, first-year students and students from other years, faculty members, members of the community, and guests of Vilnius University Šiauliai Academy gathered at the academy. The festive morning began with remarks from the academy’s director, Professor Renata Bilbokaitė, who welcomed all first-year students for choosing Vilnius University’s Šiauliai Academy and expressed her delight at the large community. The director wished the students an engaging academic experience, encouraged them to discover many new things, and reminded them not to forget to enjoy student life.
Justinas Švėgžda, Deputy Mayor of Šiauliai, also addressed the gathering, encouraging everyone to pursue their dreams and work together to build the city of Šiauliai. After the welcoming speeches, the entire community had the opportunity to taste a celebratory cake and enjoy teas prepared by the Botanical Garden of Vilnius University’s Šiauliai Academy; later, the freshmen traveled to the capital, where the traditional Vilnius University student parade and festive events were taking place.
This year, approximately 900 students and auditors began their studies at the Vilnius University Šiauliai Academy—several dozen more than last year.
